Men and women are social beings. It is innate in us to seek, establish, and nurture relationships. From the time we are born, we are trained and encouraged to develop harmonious interaction with everyone as much as possible. So it is only natural that along the way, we build long and lasting friendships. The problem lies when we are unable to distinguish when friends become something more to us. Sometimes the line gets blurred we cant identify anymore. It’s easy to succumb to emotions rather than reasoning.
Our quest for friendship is a result of the void we feel within, a thirst for someone to accept us and love us for who we are. This feeling of emptiness will never cease to persist until we find that "thing" that can fill up the void.
If there’s one friend who will remain faithful and loyal to us, and who can fill that vacuum, it is Jesus. When we are one with Christ, it is easy to do the things we’re supposed to do.His will becomes our will, therefore we are not led astray. Just like a shepherd, he leads us to safety. The sheep follow Him because they recognize His voice.
Section 2.13 of the Book of Hope tells us how the shepherd tends his flock.
