It is hurting to know that as you reach out to others, it is not being properly reciprocated. Nevertheless, do not lose heart, just continue to reach out although you don’t see any satisfying results now. Remember the law of sowing and reaping? What you sow, you will reap. But when you plant a seed today, that doesn't mean that you will harvest the fruit tomorrow, right? It will take some time, maybe 5 or more years before you can really enjoy the fruits. However, it's still worth it, why? It is because the number of fruits would just exceed the number of seeds that you have sown. And you wouldn't even be able to think of the hardship that you have had while planting those seeds, you will just be amazed to see how your labor is rewarded. The same principle applies to our life; we plant seeds of kindness today and will reap fruits of friendship in the future. Yes it may take some time, but it's all worth the waiting.
On a practical note, it is a blessing that your father is still around. Why don't you talk to him about the situation? Tell him your intentions. He may even act as a mediator between you and your step mom. Do what is right and believe that everything will fall into proper place. Jesus knows your burden and He has given an invitation for someone like you. Read Section 3.38 of Book of Hope and be refreshed.
