Has God Forsaken Me?
I am a 17 – year old girl and I live with my parents. I am a Nigerian. I think my parents do love me. The things that are important to me are my education, my future, and my friends. I don’t know what happened but lately, I started having problems with my studies, I have a hard time focusing my mind on them, I’m failing in my academics and I think I can no longer trust a friend. I prayed and made a promise to God that I will change, but I did not keep the promise that I uttered and I think God decided to punish me for my unfaithfulness. I think God has forsaken me and my life is just coming to an end.

It is said that promises are made to be broken. That is why a lot of people today just give an oath without really thinking about it first. But it’s different when we give our promise to the Lord; we have to make sure that we keep them. Jesus reminded us about this in Section 3.22 of Book of Hope. However, if we failed to keep our promise, we should not think that God is some kind of a witch who will immediately cast a spell and turn us into mice or something. Remember that God is a forgiving God, He understands our human frailty. All we have to do is humble ourselves before Him, admit that we have sinned and ensure that the next time we give our word; we are going to fulfill it.
