You are right to say that God knows what both of you did because nothing in all creation is hidden from His sight. But you know what? God doesn’t look at us with accusing eyes, always waiting for opportunity to catch us off guarded. No, He is not like that. On the other hand, He gazes at us with His compassionate eyes; He sees every pain, every struggle and every effort that we make to avoid committing sin. And if we fail, yes, He’s hurt but that doesn’t mean His judgment is clouded. He doesn’t deal with us as our sins deserve. He is willing to forgive. Gently and lovingly, He will guide us back to the right path. In Section 3.26 of Book of Hope, Jesus encourages us to forgive others who have sinned against us. If Jesus knew the value of forgiving others, how much more shall He regard forgiving us?
